  1. A cruise missile is a long-range guided
  2. missile that has a terrain-seeking radar 
  3. system and flies at moderate speed and low 
  4. altitude. It is descended from the German
  5. V1 of World War II. Initial trials in the
  6. 1950s demonstrated the limitations of
  7. cruise missiles, which included high fuel 
  8. consumption and relatively slow speeds when
  9. compared to intercontinental ballistic 
  10. missiles, as well as inaccuracy and a small
  11. warhead.
